Location:
Dahlonega, GA

Size:
450 TONS

Construction:
Structural Steel

Item of Interest:

The design scope for this 120,000 square foot, 3-story technology center consisted of strong and weak axis moment connection design with the moments supplied by the EOR. At the strong axis moment connections, the beam flanges were complete joint penetration welded to the column and the webs were attached via bolted / welded clip angles. The column flanges were checked for bending, etc and continuity plates were added as required. The weak axis connections utilized "texas tees" style moment connections with the web shear plate attached to the top and bottom continuity plates. Due to varying beam sizes, both on opposite sides of the column and perpendicular to the connections, varying bolt patterns / plate shapes had to be used to avoid interferences.
